Mario Pasquinelli Biography
Mario Pasquinelli was born in 1931 in Scandicci (Florence). Since he was a teenager he frequented the workshop of his father, a skilled furniture craftsman in Florence, learning the art of cabinet making. He then studied at the Art Institute of Florence, graduating in 1951 under the guidance of Enzo Gori. In the 1960s he obtained recognition in various competitions organized by the Trieste Fair, which highlighted his talent as a measured and shrewd designer. At the end of the same decade he began his career as a designer at various Friulian companies, working since then for over four decades mainly in the Chair Triangle, where he is still recognized as a master of contract and domestic wooden furniture. He studied the mysterious and timeless charm of this material and created numerous successful sessions, both from the point of view of shape and comfort. Throughout his career, Pasquinelli has participated in several exhibitions and received awards and recognition. In particular, we remember: in 1966 the Continental Table Glassware Design, Owens-Illinois Inc., Toledo, Ohio, USA; in 1969 the Mia Monza-Abet Print Competition, plastic laminate in furnishings, with the special La Rinascente prize; in 1979 the ADI Milan Compasso d'Oro Selection; in 1980 the ADI Milan - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Italian Design exhibition, Ankara; in 1981 the Udine Esposizioni Competition, An Italian chair for Europe; in 1981 the Honorable Report, Bio 9 Ljubljana; in 1985.
