Antonio Pedretti (Gavirate, 1950). His training took place first at the Sforzesco Castle painting school and then at the Brera Academy which he abandoned in 1972. He set up his first exhibition at just sixteen years old at the Ca' Vegia Gallery in Varese. The artist mainly represents natural landscapes, in particular stagnant waters, having been born on the shores of the lake. Besides the landscape, another dear theme is the female nude. He exhibited at the Galerie L'Angle aigu in Brussels where he was successful among critics. After a period of pause and reflection, Pedretti begins a new phase of experimentation which results in a series of imaginary landscapes, works within which gesture takes on great importance. Informal images are created on sheets of PVC or plexiglass. Naturalism remains central in his production, in fact, starting from the 1980s, he abandons the experiments of the avant-garde, to restore centrality to nature and the landscape.
