Domenico Pellegrini was born in Galliera Veneta on 19 March 1759. He completed his studies in Venice and subsequently moved to Rome, becoming a student of Domenico Corvi. In 1792, he decided to broaden his artistic horizons by moving to London, where he attended the Royal Academy of Arts in London, encouraged by his friend and mentor Francesco Bartolozzi, to whom he dedicated a portrait. He remained for a long time in the English capital where he exhibited his works until 1812, after which he returned to Italy to work between Rome and Milan. In Milan, he created works such as those of the frescoes of the so-called "quadroni di San Carlo", which were created in collaboration with other artists. These works are exhibited annually during the celebrations in honor of San Carlo Borromeo at the Milan Cathedral, between November and December. Domenico Pellegrini died in Rome on 4 March 1840.
