Perez Augusto (Messina, 1929 - Naples, 2001) Augusto Perez made his debut in the Neapolitan collective of young artists in 1951, obtaining the approval of Vasco Pratolini and three years later he presented at the Neapolitan gallery “Blu di Prussia”, a group of large sculptures in plaster. Perez Augusto (Messina, 1929 - Naples, 2001) Augusto Perez made his debut in the Neapolitan collective of young artists in 1951, obtaining the approval of Vasco Pratolini and three years later he presented at the Neapolitan gallery “Blu di Prussia”, a group of large sculptures in plaster. In 1955 he held a personal exhibition in Rome and the following year at the XXVIII Venice Biennale. His works have been exhibited at the Gallery of Modern Art in Paris, at the Rodin Museum, at the Antwerp Biennial, at the Tunnard Gallery in London. The catalog of his solo exhibition at the XXXIII Venice Biennale was signed by Cesare Brandi. In 1974 the Accademia di San Luca awarded him the prize for sculpture, naming him National Academic and in 2000 he received the “Antonello da Messina” and “Casalbeltrame – The golden frog” prize.
