Paolo Petro was born in Brescia; he graduated from the artistic high school and subsequently graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. He began painting and exhibiting at the beginning of the seventies, participating in prizes and invited exhibitions, obtaining recognition: 1970 Ottone Rosai prize reported; 1973 S. Agata Brescia prize awarded; national Apeco Milan competition reported; I draw because, AAB gallery invited; National review of the city of Brescia: the social dimension of contemporary man; 1974 young art, press club, roundabout in via Besana Milan, and other events until 1977, the year of his first solo show at the Labus gallery in Brescia. He was on the board of directors of the Brescian Artists Association for fifteen years, where he taught nude art, watercolor and engraving techniques. His work is equally divided between painting and engraving to which he has recently dedicated himself, creating large intaglio works.
