Andrea Petroni Biography

Andrea Petroni was a well-known painter originally from Venosa, the city where he was born in 1863 and where he spent the first years of his life. After obtaining his artistic training at the Academy of Naples, he made his debut at the Neapolitan Promotrice of 1884 with some of his works. Over the following years, his works were also exhibited at the events of the Promoter of Naples, such as those that took place between 1885 and 1912, but also in exhibitions in Florence and Milan in 1897 and abroad, such as in Buenos Aires in 1906.
Among his great artistic experiences there was also participation in the Venice Biennale of 1910, where the artist from Venosa was able to show all his skill and creativity. At the beginning of the 1910s he decided to move to Rome, where he created some of his most important and most notable works, such as the frescoes in the Parlamentino room in the building of the Ministry of Agricultural Policies, commissioned in the period between 1914 and 1918.
The artist died in Rome in 1943.
