He was born in Florence on 15 January 1998 to a Piedmontese father and a Lombard mother. He studied in Florence at the Technical Institute. he participated as a volunteer in the First and Second World Wars. In 1920-21 he raced in automobiles. He began painting in 1924 under the guidance of Lodovico Tommasi. In 1942 he was appointed professor of figure drawing at the Liceo Artistico in Florence. He died in Florence in 1960. He published "Notes on cooking and other things" published by Vallecchi in 1956. There are many reviews of this book, including that of Orio Vergani in "Il corriere della Sera".
