Luigi Pignataro Biography

Luigi Pignataro (1943 - 2009) Born in Montalcino in 1943, Luigi Pignataro worked in Florence and abroad. Painter, sculptor, engraver, mosaicist, set designer, he studied at the School of Art in Rome where he had Alberto Ziveri as his fresco teacher and held exhibitions in Via Margutta. Subsequently he had a studio in Brussels and set up personal and collective exhibitions. In the 1960s he went to Africa to teach. Then he returned to Italy and continued an intense pictorial and exhibition activity in various European countries, especially in Germany. The brightness of the landscape, the expressive suggestion of certain views, the descriptive precision and the intensity of the psychological rendering in the figure and in the portrait, characterize his language. Luigi Pignataro passed away in Florence on 28 July 2009. Typical of Pignataro is the drafting of the pictorial material with a broad and fast stroke, with which he manages to give expressiveness and character to the character. The immediate drafting seems almost impulsive, yet Pignataro manages to obtain a natural rendering even in the mobility of the somatic features.
