John Picking (Lancashire, 1943). In 1960 he obtained a diploma from the Wigan art school, won the “Governos” medal and a scholarship to Paris. He studied for three years at the Edinburgh Academy of Art and stayed in Spain and Norway. He takes a trip to Italy where he is especially struck by Sicily where he gets married and builds his studio. After a period of teaching at the Manchester academy, he moved permanently to Italy, first to Sicily, then to Clusane d'Iseo. Since 1993 the artist can be considered Anglo-Brescian.
