Gaetano Pinna Biography
Gaetano Pinna was born in Sassari in 1939. In 1958 he graduated in architecture at the city's Art Institute. Since the mid-1960s he has experimented with various trends, from Abstractionism to Constructivism, and creates two and three-dimensional works exploring the void of space with essential elements such as the straight line, the point, irregular geometric figures, and using different materials. In 1965 he created his first non-objective works in which a particular logical structure appears. In 1974 he moved to Verona and began frequenting Armando Nizzi's Galleria Sincron in Brescia, where he exhibited in various exhibitions and met Munari, Garcia Rossi, Le Parc, Demarco, Campus, Campesan, Costalonga, Biasi and others. In 1978 he held his first solo exhibition at the Sincron Gallery, presented by Bruno Munari who included him with two drawings in the series "The discovery of the square", published by Zanichelli. In 1995 he participated in the XLVI International Biennale of Venice with the Architetture dell'Immaginario group. The same year he was invited by Anna Canali, director of the Artestruktura gallery in Milan and secretary of the Madí group, to be part of the Madí International Movement, attending all the group's events.
