Claudio Platania Biography
Claudio Platania, born in Milan in 1944, is an Italian designer and artistic director. He graduated from the Book School, Graphics Institute in Milan, under the guidance of Albe Steiner and Massimo Vignelli, starting his career as assistant to Giulio Gonfalonieri. Between the 60s and 80s he was a founding member of the communication agencies TPA - ADSHOP - COPYRIGHT, before joining G&R Associati as a partner. He has created important graphic communication and image projects for the main international companies in the furniture and design sector, as well as for public bodies and municipalities, including Cassina, B&B, Knoll, Acerbis, VeArt, IBM, Honeywell, Tourist Board Val d'Aosta and Marche Region. For the latter he won the award for best advertising campaign for the development of tourism and was responsible for the image of sectoral events such as Smau. He came in second place in the competition for the logo of the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics. He has also collaborated with important photographers such as Oliviero Toscani, Aldo Ballo and Ugo Mulas.
