Hans Platschek was a German painter and writer (Berlin 1923 - Hamburg 2000). From 1939 to 1953 he lived in Montevideo, where he also published his first theoretical writings (1942). Having settled in Munich (1955), he directed with H. Bienek the magazine Blätter + Bilder, an important collection of writings on contemporary art (1959-62).
