Franco Polizzi Biography

Franco Polizzi was born in Scicli, in the province of Ragusa, in 1954. He enrolled at the Syracuse Art School, where he began to develop his passion for art, expressing Mediterranean influences, the colors and emotions of his native places . After obtaining his diploma in 1973, he continued his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where he graduated brilliantly learning from the masters Carmelo Zotti and Edmondo Bacci.
In 1975 his paintings were accepted at the X Art Quadrennial in Rome, representing an important milestone for his career. In 1984 he signed a professional agreement with the Roman art gallery “Il Gabbiano”, which became an important point of reference for his personal and collective exhibitions, including Arte Exposition Chicago, Fiac in Paris and Basel.
His work is praised by illustrious art critics such as Enzo Siciliano, Lorenza Trucchi, Vittorio Sgarbi, Guido Giuffrè, Antonello and Duccio Trombadori, Giorgio Soavi, Claudio Strinati, Marco Di Capua and Marco Goldin, who support him in the various stages of his career.
Polizzi exhibits in various galleries such as Forni (Bo), Bergamini (Mi), Basile and Galleria 61 (Pa), Il Sagittario (Me). In 1996 he organized his first anthology in Treviso with Marco Goldin. He participates in collective and personal exhibitions such as the XXXI Milan Biennale, the XXX Suzzara Prize in Mantua and the 42nd Michetti Prize in Francavilla a Mare.
In 1999 he participated in the collective "Elogio del pastello" and at the XIII Quadrennial of Art in Rome, where the work "Torretta degli Iblei" was purchased by the Chamber of Deputies. Subsequently, he participated in exhibitions in tandem with Sonia Alvarez in Palermo and with “The Scicli group” in Bologna and Monza.
In 2003 the work “Luce Inside” was exhibited in the Senate, while in 2005 he participated with a “triptych” in the exhibition organized by Marco Goldin at the Piccolo Miglio in Castello, in Brescia. In 2006, Rome hosted his solo show at the “Andrè” gallery.
Currently, Franco Polizzi lives and works in Scicli, continuing to exhibit his work in important national and international exhibitions.
