Giuseppe Ponga was born in Chioggia in 1856 and was a Venetian painter, who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. He was inspired by the landscape models of the great 18th century painting, in particular by Giovan Battista Tiepolo and Francesco Guardi. Thanks to his skills, Ponga obtained prestigious commissions such as the decorations of the Parliament Building in Budapest, those of the Relics pavilion at the Rome Exhibition of 1910 and some rooms of the Royal Palace in Venice. In Venice, the ten neo-eighteenth-century panels that adorn the famous café "Quadri sotto i portici di piazza San Marco" are famous. Ponga died in Venice in 1925.
