Prince began cutting magazine text, focusing on the images and framing them as art. An example is “Spiritual America”, where the artist goes through several degrees of appropriation before reaching the final stage. Thanks to the appropriation of images, the artist demonstrates how the identity and history of the American icon were a way to attract the American consumer.
