Emanuele Rambaldi Biography

The painter Emanuele Rambaldi was born in Pieve di Teco in 1903. He was the first Ligurian to join the Italian twentieth century group in 1925. He approached the art of ceramics in 1927 by collaborating with the "Fenice" in Albisola Capo and around the 1930s he worked as a modeler and painter at the "ILCA" factory (Industry for the Processing of Ceramics and Related Products) in Nervi. Between 1928 and 1930 he painted for the "ILCA" some sculptures modeled by Arturo Martini similar to those created by the sculptor in 1926-27 in the laboratories of the "Fenice" factory in Albisola and painted by Manlio Trucco. In 1929 he held a solo show at the LXXVII Promotrice Genovese. Some vases painted by him were presented at the Monza Triennale in 1930 and displayed on the shelves of the "DIANA" company (Decorazioni Industrie Artistiche Nuovi Arredamenti) next to some sculptures by Arturo Martini. In 1933 he worked at the artistic ceramics and majolica factory "La Casa dell'Arte" in Albisola Capo and in that same year some of his ceramics, made with the factory's brand, were presented at the Triennale d'Arte in Milan. In 1939 he was responsible for setting up the decorative art room of the First Chiavari Art Biennale. After the war his ceramics took on a nuclear tone. Around the beginning of the 1960s, Emanuele Rambaldi used the furnaces of the laboratories of Umberto Ghersi from Albisola for his production. He died in Savona in 1968.
