Barbieri and Martinelli both graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic of Milan. At the beginning of the 1970s they founded an architecture studio which however was closed in 1989. Barbieri collaborated with various educational institutions such as the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and the Ecole Nationale Supérieur de la Création Industrielle (ENSCI) in Paris , while maintaining the management of your professional studio. He is the designer of the Oscar series, dated 1994. He worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture in Wroclaw, Poland, as well as at ENSCI. His Delfi, Metropolis and Nemo collections, dating back to the 1990s, were created by him. However, the real collaboration between the two architects began in 1984 with the creation of the Coriandoli line for Zucchetti, which was then followed by the design of the Zetamix 3000 mixer. They also designed the "Flu" table lamp together, obtaining a notable success with such pieces.
