Alfio Rapisardi was a Florentine artist, born in 1929 and deceased in 2018. His creative activity was officially launched in 1956 with a personal exhibition at the "Strozzina" gallery in Florence. He was the winner of the competition for the creation of the altarpiece of the Scolopi church. Rapisardi's works are present in the Kessel museum, alongside figures such as Gauguin, Cezanne and Picasso. Rapisardi's artistic research has its roots in the Italian pictorial panorama, and even more precisely in the Tuscan Renaissance tradition, but the artist renews this tradition with decidedly contemporary representative instances. Rapisardi's works are distinguished by a perfect balance of shapes and colors, arranged with a high geometric sensitivity. The objects are decomposed, almost moved into a complex space that evokes the lesson of Cubism. The artist spent a period in the United States and the Dominican Republic, before returning to Florence and dedicating himself to collaborating with private clients, outside the confines of art galleries. Rapisardi retired to his home in Borgo Sant'Apostoli, where he continued to paint until 2015. He died in 2018 at the age of 89.
