Jørgen Rasmussen was born on April 26, 1931 in Odense, Denmark, together with his twin brother Ib. Both brothers are architects and completed their studies at the Royal Danish Academy Of Fine Arts, obtaining their degrees in 1955. Two years later, in 1957, the twins opened their own architectural practice, which achieved rapid success thanks to their single-family house projects and the winning of numerous architectural competitions. During the 1960s, Jørgen Rasmussen and his brother designed chairs for the KEVI A/S company, which became known as the KEVI chairs. These multi-purpose chairs have been praised for their comfort without compromising durability and functionality. Rasmussen later invented the iconic and innovative double wheel, which is used on almost all Danish office chairs.
