Renda Giuseppe (Polistena, 1859 - Naples, 1939) Giuseppe Renda was an Italian sculptor. He dedicated himself to sculpture, working in the Morani brothers' workshop and in 1874 he moved to Naples, studying at the Academy of Fine Arts. He was a pupil of Tommaso Solari, Stanislao Lista, Gioacchino Toma and in the Academy he won the admission competition to the Royal Institute of Fine Arts in Naples. He began working in the ceramics factory of Cacciapuoti and Scotti di Capodimonte. In 1898 he became technical director of the Laganà foundry in Naples and participated in various international exhibitions in London, St. Petersburg, Barcelona and Vienna, receiving two gold medals. He participated in the exhibitions of the “Salvator Rosa” Fine Arts Promotion Society and in the first national exhibitions. He was the author of monuments, such as those for Enrico Cosenz, Giacomo Leopardi and his sculptures with elements taken from the Art Nouveau style were successful all over the world.
