Oscar Ricciardi (Naples, 1864-Naples, 1935). He is self-taught and knows the painting of Domenico Morelli. If at first he was interested in history, he then shifted his attention to genre painting. Key figure of Neapolitan Impressionism, he prefers seascapes, beaches and Neapolitan costumes as subjects. In the last phase of his artistic experimentation he adopts a very intense use of colours, becomes attached to reality and uses light in an impressionist way.
