Hector Rocha was born in Buenos Aires on June 6, 1893 and was a very famous Argentine sculptor. He studied on the European continent, attending free sculpture workshops in Paris. In 1917, he was appointed to teach aesthetics at the Juan Martín de Pueyrredón National School and to model for the Raggio and Fernando Fader Schools, of which he was also director.
In 1947 he was elected president of the Círculo de Bellas Artes and in 1959 vice president of the Argentine Society of Sculptor Artists. He was a regular participant of the National Exhibition between 1911 and 1958. Among his most important works, we mention "Guillermo Rawson", "José M. Estrada", the Fountain of Santa Rosa de Lima in the Rural Society of Palermo and the building of the Ministry of Public Works. His works are featured in many collections, including the National Museum of Fine Arts, the Eduardo Sívori Municipal Museum of Plastic Arts, the Pedro de Mendoza Museum in La Boca, the Rosa Galisteo de Rodríguez Museum in Santa Fe, and the JB Castagnino Museum in Rosario. Hector Rocha died on January 6, 1964.
