Cesare Ronchi Biography
(Imola, 1936) Cesare Ronchi attended the Institute of Art for Ceramics in Faenza where he obtained his diploma in 1959 and subsequently held the chair of Plastics. In the 1960s he dedicated himself above all to ceramics, obtaining prizes and mentions in various competitions: Vicenza, Lerici, Bassano del Grappa, Macerata, Lecce, Fermo, Naples and Matera. In 1970 he won the competition for two large stone panels for the port of Ancona. Since 1972 he also began to be interested in bronze and wood and during this decade he exhibited in Rimini, Gubbio, Gualdo Tadino, Castellamonte, Terni, Castelli, Ravenna (International Exhibition of Dante's Bronzetto in 1974), Expo Arte in Bari and in various locations in the Tuscany. In 1982 international contacts took shape: Galleria Barenson in Boca Raton (USA), New York Art Expo in 1982 and Artmarks in Toronto in 1983. In the same year, Enrico Crispolti invited him to participate in the traveling exhibition "Terre Farta" and, in 1984 , at the Roman exhibition “The drawn sculpture”. Mixing ceramic and bronze, Ronchi creates sculptures of considerable size intended for public places. Among the most significant works in this area are those located in the park of Villa Ghironda in Zola Predosa, in the area in front of the CEFLA company in Imola, in the church of Santa Maria Maddalena in Verona, at the Sant'Anna Hospital in Ferrara, in the Cassa di Risparmio di Imola, in the church of San Giovanni Evangelista in Ascoli Piceno and in Palazzo Vespignani in Imola.
