Ezio Rovera was born in Taggia on 31 January 1937 and was a notable sculptor, a versatile artist, an intellectual, as well as a scholar of local Italian history and culture. Numerous and painful family events and the last war prevented him from continuing his studies. At the age of seventeen, he moved to Turin, where he found work in a restoration studio. He graduated with honors at the age of thirty. Subsequently, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, without ever neglecting his initial profession as a restorer. Not yet satisfied, he also undertook medical studies. He was a professor of art history for fifteen years in an art high school in Turin, without ever neglecting the profession of restorer, sculptor and architect. He was Director of the Tabiese Cultural Center and, as such, promoted and implemented more direct and productive communication with the municipal administration, regularly meeting the Mayor and updating him on the Centre's initiatives, proposals and problems. Ezio Rovera died on 8 February 2001.
