Rumney Ralph (Newcastle, 1934 - Manosca, 2002) Ralph Rumney was an English artist. He was one of the co-founders of the London Psychogeographical Association and this organization was involved in the formation of the Situationist International. The encounter with the theme of psychogeography was decisive in his work. Before then, in fact, the artist had presented himself as an abstract painter, whose compositions focused on signs interspersed with passages and imprints of colour. At the same time he dedicated himself to the staging of "The Place" of situationist origin together with friends Robin Denny and Richard Smith. The idea of ​​the labyrinth on which the Situationists concentrated at that time was kept alive in Rumney. In the early 1960s the artist continued his pictorial activity, combining the technique of applying gold leaf and metals to the creation of geometric motifs. The interest in technology was evident in one of the worthy projects of the 1960s, namely the creation of the International Institute for Art and Technology.
