Rurik Biography
Rurik, born in 1960 in Dieudonne (Oise), grew up in an artistic environment, as his mother was a successful actress and his father Pierre Dmitrienko was a well-known painter of Russian origins. His father had his own art studio in the Bastille, so Rurik spent much of his youth in this Parisian neighborhood. Subsequently, the artist enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in the French capital, where he completed his academic education. At the age of 19, he exhibited his first solo exhibition at the Gallery de la Cité in Luxembourg, but from then on he continued to participate regularly in solo and group exhibitions in France and abroad. In 1983, Rurik was selected to become a resident at Villa Medici, a prestigious French art academy located in Rome. Here, he painted and experimented with various techniques, mainly working in oils. He subsequently experimented with watercolor in subsequent periods. Currently, Rurik lives and works in the northern suburbs of Paris, in Aubervilliers, in an artistic space with the spaciousness and luxury needed to create and paint.
