Marialba Russo, Neapolitan, has lived in Rome since 1987. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, approached photography at the end of the 1960s and her attention was turned to religious representations and popular festivals in central-southern Italy. Between 1972 and 1976 he collaborated with the National Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions in Rome. In the years 1976 and 1977 she published Al Ristorante on 29 September 1974 and Giornale Spray in the series “I Quaderni dello Gazzo” which she created. Alongside his personal research and exhibition activity, he collaborates with "Vogue Italia" and other Italian and foreign publications. In 1979 with the photographic sequence Il Parto, Marialba Russo represented Italy in “Venezia 79 photography” in the “Contemporary European Photography” section curated by Daniela Palazzoli, Sue Davis and Jean-Claude Lemagny. A significant aspect of his work from the seventies will be captured by Arturo Carlo Quintavalle in the exhibition he curated in 1999 “Il rosso e il nero. Figures and ideologies in Italy 1945-1980 in the CSAC collections".
