Cesare Saccaggi was born on 7 February 1868 in Tortona, where he demonstrated from a young age that he had an artistic talent of great value. Cesare Saccaggi was born on 7 February 1868 in Tortona, where he demonstrated from a young age that he had an artistic talent of great value. Baron Alessandro Cavalchini Garofoli, an amateur painter, noticed Cesare's talents and introduced him to the first rudiments of ornate and figure drawing. In 1874, Saccaggi enrolled at the Albertina Academy after the year had already begun. In 1889 he made his debut at the Promotrice of Turin with an oil study. In 1897 he created the first advertising poster for the Moscato Spumante of F.lli Gancia di Canelli. In 1900, with the pastel Alma Natura Ave, he obtained the bronze medal at the International Universal Exhibition in Paris. He spent some time in the French capital until 1905, when he decided to return permanently to Tortona. In the meantime he had been elected honorary member of the Brera Academy. He actively participated in the most important national and international events until shortly before his death, on 3 January 1934 in Tortona.
