Toni Sailer, pseudonym of Anton Engelbert Sailer, born in Kitzbühel on 17 November 1935, was a well-known Austrian athlete, alpine ski coach and actor. Sailer has left his mark in the history of alpine skiing thanks to his incredible successes. In particular, he was the first skier to win all the races of an Olympic event. However, due to some controversy regarding professionalism in the sport, Sailer was disqualified immediately after the World Championships. Despite this, Sailer continued to dedicate himself to the skiing scene, also becoming a film actor. Between 1958 and 1979 he starred in about fifteen films, mainly comedies set in the Alpine regions, demonstrating his talent even on skis. Furthermore, he participated in numerous television series from 1969 to 2003, also giving his contribution in some documentaries and other television series as himself. Unfortunately, on 24 August 2009 Toni Sailer passed away in Innsbruck.
