Vittorio Sala, born on 1 July 1918 in Palermo, was a director, writer, screenwriter and assistant director. After acquiring a degree in Law, he directed a valuable short documentary film entitled "Palermo Normanno" in 1937, subsequently followed by numerous others. After a period of time dedicated to journalism in Sicily, he settled in Rome, where he became a student of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. During the last years of the war, he was a film critic at the newspaper "Il Popolo di Roma". After the end of the war, he returned to the cinema, dedicating himself to his old passion for documentaries, a genre in which he was considered a master and for which he was recognized at category festivals. He made his debut in directing feature films in 1955 with "Donne sole" and subsequently directed some films of some interest, including "Costa Azzurra" from 1959, which had Alberto Sordi as its protagonist. Vittorio Sala died in Rome on 11 May 1996.
