Salgado Sebastiao (Aimorès, 1944) Sebastiao Salgado trained in economics and statistics, and following a mission in Africa he decided to become a photographer. In 1973 he made a reportage about the drought conditions in the Sahel, another about the revolution in Portugal and the colonial war in Angola and Mozambique. In 1975 he joined the Gamma agency and in 1979 the Magnum Photos photography cooperative. In 1994 he created the “Amazonas Images” structure together with Lelia Wanick Salgadola, with which he began to deal with his work independently. The photographer dedicated himself above all to humanitarian and social reportage. In the following years he created a project, entitled "The Hand of Man", a 400-page publication, accompanied by an exhibition, so far exhibited in around sixty museums around the world. His photographic reportages are published in numerous international magazines.
