Giovanni Salviati was born in Venice in 1881 and attended the Venice Academy, under the guidance of Guglielmo Ciardi, where he immediately distinguished himself for his passion for landscape painting and for his choice of subjects inspired by the lagoon. His artistic debut took place in Venice in 1907, followed by many exhibitions in the cities of Turin, Florence, Treviso and Venice, which lasted until the 1920s. Despite his artistic activity, there is little information on Salviati's life. He is known to have spent much of his life in Venice, painting delicate, sincere landscapes that are characterized by light tones and vigorous, constructive brushwork. The subjects he loved to paint were the rural landscapes of the Treviso countryside and the naturalistic scenarios of the Belluno valleys and Dolomites. Giovanni Salviati died in Venice in 1950.
