Gino Sampaolesi (1948 - 2018) was a multifaceted and well-known artist, born in Ostra Vetere in 1948. Since 1944 he lived and worked in Castelbellino. Among his passions, in addition to painting, also short films. He created “Giotto” in 2003, “The Bet” in 1998 and “Una città as the crow flies” in 1989. In 1993 he published some poems under the title “Opuscolo”. He writes and represents theatrical performances: “A life of assault”, “Route to Rotterdam”, “With the moon in single combat”. He creates and manages the “Tamburo Battente” (Castelbellino), a place where he combines cuisine, art and performance. In his performance L'ultimo volo, from 2015, he appears with a towed plane in Corso Matteotti for the inauguration of the exhibition at Palazzo dei Convegni presented by Vittorio Sgarbi.
