Savinio Ruggero (Turin, 1934) Ruggero Savinio is an Italian artist, son of Andrea De Chirico and Maria Montino, and nephew of the famous painter Giorgio De Chirico. At the age of 15 Ruggero began to frequent his uncle's studio and learn the teachings of the painting technique. He initially attended the Faculty of Letters in Rome and in 1956 he held his first exhibition of paintings. In 1961 he organized his first solo show in Milan, at the Galleria delle Ore and traveled numerous times to Paris, where he held many exhibitions. The artist created several cycles of works, such as the cycle of the 1980s, characterized by references to Greek and Roman reliefs, or the group of works entitled "Ruins" or the cycles of the Muses and Fortunes. In 1986 Savinio received the Guggenheim Prize and in 1990-91 he held solo exhibitions at the Philippe Daverio Gallery in New York. Also in the 1990s he participated in the Venice Biennale and set up several exhibitions in ancient Italian palaces and villas.
