Achille Savoia was an Italian painter born in Pavia in 1839.
He was a pupil of C. Ferreri and attended the Civic School of Painting with G. Trecourt. In 1860 he won a prize for his painting "The Return of the Volunteer" and in 1864 he obtained further recognition thanks to the work "The Taking of Palermo". The sketch of the latter is still preserved in the Civic Museums of Pavia, together with his other works.
Achille Savoia painted a wide range of subjects, including genre and devotional ones. However, his most popular painting on the market depicts interiors with aristocratic characters reproducing scenes of everyday life. The details and colors of his works, especially when painted in oil on canvas (although he produced many watercolours), have always been highly sought after.
Achille Savoia passed away in Pavia in 1886.
