Schawinsky Alexander Xanti (Basel, 1904 - Locarno, 1979) Alexander Xanti Schawinsky was a Swiss designer, photographer and painter. He studied architecture and painting and subsequently participated in the Bauhaus experience in Dessau. In 1933 he began a collaboration with Studio Boggeri, with which he created famous advertising campaigns, such as the posters for Cinzano, the leaflet advertisements for Motta and Olivetti. He participated in the creation of the Olivetti Studio 42 typewriter and in 1936 he taught at Black Mountain College in the United States, where he remained for two years. He also taught graphic arts, drawing and painting at the City College of New York at New York University. He exhibited many works for the MoMA in New York and for the Smithsonian Institution.
