Martin Schwarz Biography
Martin Schwarz (1945 - ) is a Swiss painter, conceptual and object artist, photographer, author and publisher. He was born in Winterthur in 1946. From 1963 to 1967 he trained as a graphic designer and lithographer, also attending the Kunstgewerbeschule in Zurich. Since 1968 he has been a freelance artist. His areas of practice include: painting, objets d'art, environmental, film, photography, multiples, kinetic art, mural, drawing, screen printing, collage, photographic art, conceptual art, installation, computer art and book publishing. Schwarz has been creating new artistic worlds for many years and combines the reality of the here and now with his fantasy worlds. Intense observation is often required to grasp the diversity and deeper meaning of his works in their entirety. Bartenstein also opened his contemporary Kunstkammer in several rooms of the baroque palace in 1994. The princely family of Hohenlohe-Bartenstein kindly made the former halls of the palace available to the Swiss artist for exhibition purposes. Here he exhibits his (latest) works together with his collection of contemporary art from friends and well-known artists.
