Selva Attilio (Trieste, 1888 - Rome, 1970) Attilio Selva was an Italian sculptor. He studied at the Industrial School of Trieste and subsequently moved to Milan, where he worked as a stonemason. In 1905 he met Felice Carena and in 1907 he won the Rome Prize. He opened his own studio in Villa Strohl-Fern and soon approached Roman, Renaissance and Egyptian sculpture. Among his most important allegorical-symbolic sculptures are: “Ritmi, Velia” (1914) and “Enigma” (1919), the latter preserved at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome. Later he approached an artistic movement, called “Return to order”. He exhibited at the III Roman Secession and in 1919 at an international exhibition in Zurich. Subsequently he went to Egypt where he created medals and portraits for the King and in 1932 he was appointed Academician of Italy within the Art class.
