Sermidi Sergio (Mantua, 1937) Sergio Sermidi is an Italian artist. He obtained a diploma from the Art School of Mantua and continued his studies at the Modena State Institute, where his teacher was Luigi Spazzapan. He attended Pompeo Borra's scenography and painting courses at the Brera Academy. The artist's painting focuses on a surreal writing, characterized by signs and the expressive autonomy of color. He began exhibiting at the Galleria Saletta in Mantua and the Galleria 2000 in Bologna in 1967, becoming interested in the linguistic self-referentiality of color. The instinctual component of painting is also important, easily traceable through the effect of light, captured on the canvas by Sermidi. He exhibited frequently both in Italy and abroad.
