Federico Severino Biography
Federico Severino was born in Brescia in 1953, where he lives and works. A complex and eclectic personality, Federico Severino passionately turned to philosophy studies until he graduated, simultaneously completing his artistic studies as a self-taught person. Already in 1974 he presented himself with a solo exhibition, reviewed by Luciano Spiazzi and Elvira Cassa Salvi, in which the disturbing themes and extraordinary suggestion that would characterize his rich production emerge. In 1992, the monograph edited by Alberto Crespi and Fausto Lorenzi was published, documenting Severino's production from 1980 to 1992. His work bears the imprint of a fervent inventive capacity supported by an in-depth culture capable of balancing the strong tensions that they imply. His iconology, which is accompanied by figures of myth and figures of the sacred, has established a close dialogue between the real and the imaginary which, developed coherently over decades, has now taken on a lexicon and rhythms that are clearly distinguishable in the panorama of contemporary sculpture. Severino's work, inspired by sacred themes, has garnered acclaim from critics and the press throughout Italy and has participated in a long series of exhibitions held in important public spaces and private galleries in Rome, Milan, Venice, Bergamo , Monza, Florence, Brescia, Pietrasanta, Turin, Positano and Capri. His works are present in important private art collections and also permanently in public spaces such as the Centro Arte Moderna collection in Pisa and of great importance such as the Pantheon and the Basilica of San Vitale in Rome. For years he has collaborated with Franco Senesi's Liquid Art System, with whom he has organized important personal exhibitions abroad (Russia, Turkey, UK, Hungary, USA).
