Sieff Jean-Loup (Paris, 1933 - 2000) Jean-Loup Sieff was a French photographer. He began his career as a reporter and won recognition for his coverage of the mine strikes of the 1950s. He subsequently dedicated himself to fashion photography, collaborating with important magazines in the sector and in the 1960s he moved to New York, where he became popular thanks to the services he created for famous people such as Alfred Hitchcock. Sieff is remembered for his nude photographs, characterized by the use of a wide-angle lens and for his ironic and never vulgar style. Artists, actors and politicians posed for him and in his images the light illuminates only the face, while everything else fades into the background. The author also dedicated himself to landscape photography, such as those of Death Valley in 1977. Sieff became a point of reference for many photographers and his particular use of the wide angle influenced the way many artists conceive the image.
