Mario Signori was born in Albino (Bergamo) in 1929. At the age of seven he joined his parents in France and spent his childhood in Belfort. In 1942, after the death of his mother, he returned to Albino with his father Fermo. In the years 19461-951 he attended the Carrara Academy under the guidance of Achille Funi. In 1952 he won first prize in the national painting competition "Premio Melzo"; he will also achieve it the following year for the etchings. Since 1948 he has had frequent contacts with Venice and Burano where he met the famous master painters of that school; in particular he formed friendships with Vellani Marchi, Semeghini and Consadori. With Saverio Barbaro in 1952 he was in Paris and then in Brittany in Dovarnenez.
