Giuseppe Signorini, born in Rome in 1857, attended the city's Academy of Fine Arts. He immediately approached the watercolor technique, where he achieved notable successes in particular in the creation of genre subjects in eighteenth-century costume and in lively orientalist scenes. His work met with great market success, especially in the United States, United Kingdom and France. He was an internationally renowned artist who exhibited at the Paris Salons, obtaining prizes and recognition. He directed the Académie de Champs-Elysèes. In France he showed a colorful, luminous and detailed genre painting, following the models of Jean-Louis Ernest Meissonier and Mariano Fortuny, without however being influenced by the Impressionists. He participated in several exhibitions in Italy and France, but worked mainly for private clients. Signorini died in Rome in 1932.
