Allan Silliphant Biography

Allan Silliphant (1941 - ) was born on April 7, 1941 in the USA. He is known as a director and screenwriter. He is famous for producing Supersonic Supergirls (1973) and Surfer Girls (1978). He wrote, directed and co-produced The Stewardesses (1969) under the d'écran pseudonym Alf Silliman Jr. He worked side by side with 3D expert Chris J. Condon to develop the clever 3D technology that made the release the film was an extraordinary success. Among other things, this led to a successful 3D reissue of House of Wax in the early 1970s. The Stewardesses is in fact a 1969 American softcore comedy written and directed by him and starring Christina Hart, Monica Gayle, Paula Erickson and Donna Stanley. Produced on a budget of just over $100,000, the film grossed $26 million during its theatrical run. In terms of budget it remains the most profitable 3D film ever released. Originally self-rated "X", in 1971 the film was re-edited with newly shot scenes to receive an "R" rating from the Motion Picture Association of America to qualify for wide general release. At several times, the film ran for over a year in the same theater and was the number one film in the United States for three weeks in September and October 1971.
