Elio R. Silvestri was born in Castellaneta in the province of Taranto on 29 August 1932. He moved to Milan in 1950 to complete his studies at the Brera art academy and here he immediately began working as a set designer, graphic designer and designer. He collaborates with the Pagot studio for the creation of some of the most famous characters of the Italian Carosello: Calimero, Gigante take care of it for Ferrero, Giò Condor. He took part in the creation of Diabolik (Sorelle Giussani, Milan) and remained its designer for several issues. He made his debut in '62 as a painter and came into contact with the big names of the major artistic movements on the international scene of those years. While continuing to be interested in design and illustration, he never abandoned painting. During 60 years of study, reinterpretations and pictorial production, Elio deeply explores the soul of artistic, cultural and historical-social changes, revealing at the same time the profound folds of the human soul in contrast to the epochal changes that have marked more than half a century of our history. From '89 to '98 he taught scenography at the European Institute of Design - Milan and deals with the relationship between creativity and alternative medicine, with particular attention to sensitivity and the creative potential connected to altered states of consciousness. Since 1983 Elio has actively collaborated with AISM, also being part of the board of directors until 2014 as vice president together with Dr Giuseppe Perfetto. For the same magazine of the Italian Scientific Association of Metapsychics he was editor of numerous publications parallel to the research developed. Elio Silvestri currently resides in Dardago. Part of his works remain installed in his Milanese studio, still a destination for collectors and art dealers.
