Pedro Simon (1949 - ) was born Madrid in 1949 and lives in Seville. Painter, sculptor and founding member of the gallery La Máquina Española, at the beginning of the 1980s he was one of the young Spanish artists who best linked himself to foreign currents such as German expressionism, Italian transavantgarde and New York graffiti. With an eclectic visual language, frenetic graphics and energetic gestures, his most recent proposals oscillate between a reformulation of cubism and abstraction. Despite being born in Madrid, Simón developed much of his career in Seville, the city where he obtained the Juana de Aizpuru scholarship in 1980 and held his first solo exhibition at the now non-existent Montparnasse Library in 1975.
