Mario Simoni Biography
Mario Simoni (1885 - 1953) Born in Rome in 1885, he lived in Quinto al Mare in the province of Genoa. He was a student of his father Gustavo Simoni and of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome where in 1907 he won the nuod competition. He paints with fine virtuosity in the Flemish genre, especially still lifes with Murano glass, velvet, metal plates, majolica vases, flower cups, fish, shells, in a harmonious whole and with bright tone effects. Among his works are: Fruit (National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome); Musical instruments (Zanon property, Biella); Tench, Venetian hearth, Still Life, Carnations in Murano vase (Mr. Gouge, Consul General of France, Milan), Glass and majolica flowers.
