Aarons Slim Biography
Slim Aarons (Manhattan, 1916 - Montrose, 2006) Slim Aarons was an American photographer. His photographs mainly captured famous people in their intimacy, inside their luxurious homes. The photographer during his career visited many locations, such as Beverly Hills, Capri and the French Riviera, photographing the Kennedy family, Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly and other rich celebrities. Aarons always preferred to capture celebrities in their own homes with their own costumes, without the need for stylists or elaborate lighting. Aarons' career began not with images of stars but with those of soldiers. He was born in New York and entered the army at age 18, where he worked as an official photographer in World War II. During the war he met some of the best newspaper photographers and took several photographs for Yank magazine. After the war he moved to California and it is here that he began to focus on shots of famous people, where he created one of his most famous photographs “The Kings of Hollywood”, which showed Clark Gable, Van Heflin, Gary Cooper and Jimmy Stewart. He also began to collaborate with some magazines, such as Life, Town & Country and Holiday.
