Stefano Soddu Biography
Stefano Soddu, born in 1946 in Cagliari, moved to Milan with his family in 1956. After completing his classical studies, he obtained a degree in law and decided to dedicate himself to the visual arts, taking a particular interest in material expressionism during the 1960s. During this time, he created works in plastic and copper sculptures.
In 1995, he published the book "Risalendo la Corrente" together with Mininni, in which he described his land art experience carried out on the Lambro stream near Canzo, using exclusively materials found on site. This experience represented the beginning of a new artistic project which saw Soddu use recycled materials (both industrial and otherwise) in the creation of sculptural works, through a meticulous process of aesthetic and ethical research.
Since then, he has exhibited his works in both collective and solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including at the Galleria Vismara Arte in Milan, the Castello Visconteo in Trezzo sull'Adda, the Warehouse Gallery in Orlando (USA), the Museum of Sant'Ambrogio and the Oratory of the Passion of Milan, the Pagani Museum of Castellanza, the Italian Cultural Institute of Brussels, the Cloister of Voltorre (contemporary art museum of the province of Varese), the Blue Gallery of Prussia of Albissola, the Municipal Art Gallery of Varallo Pombia, the Nuova Era Museum of Bari, the Ellequadro Documenti Gallery of Genoa, the Excalibur Gallery of Solcio, the Fusion Art of Turin and the Leo's Gallery of Monza.
His works are now present in important museums and public and private collections both in Italy and abroad. In the 2013/2014 academic year, Soddu was part of the Artistic Commission of the Permanente of Milan.
