Pio Solero (Sappada, 1881 – 1975) trained at the Academy of Venice, which he attended at a young age, from 1898. In 1902, however, he studied for a year at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, and then perfected his of Munich in the following two years. Here he became friends with the sculptor Carlo Bonomi (1880-1961) and received the influence of the Jugendstil line. In particular, he observes the Alpine landscapes of Ferdinand Hodler (1853-1918), rich in symbolic meanings.
